The gate is once again repaired and working properly. We’ve received some emails and questions, so we’ve put together these tips to assist with any issues. We are also working with the gate company to test the receiver and make sure everything is fine-tuned as the range of the remotes seems more limited than before.

Tips to minimize issues when entering and leaving the community:

  • When entering the community, never go to the left of the entrance island median and never enter through the exit gate. When entering or exiting the gate area itself, stay to the right of the double yellow lines.
  • If you’re having trouble with your remote, please remember that the receiver is located at the call box, not at the gate itself. Press your remote when you are nearest to the call box to insure it receives the signal. If you drive closer to the gate, you are driving further away from the receiver and the remote may not work.
  • If your remote still isn’t working, email gates@greenacre.com to see if they need to reset the remote.
  • If that isn’t working, you may need new batteries. Most of the gate remotes use two CR2016 3-volt lithium coin batteries. Be sure to confirm the numbers on the batteries in your remote before ordering replacements. You can find these at Walgreens, CVS, Amazon and other stores that sell specialized batteries. The batteries will only work if inserted correctly, so be sure to check the orientation before you remove the old batteries.
  • If that does not work, you probably need to replace the remote.  The form to get a replacement can be found in the link below:

  • When exiting the community, please keep in mind that the entrance gate swings in. Cutting across the swing radius could cause an impact with the gate. Stay to the right of the double yellow lines and pull forward until the exit gate opens. If the gate does not open, you may need to pull closer to the gate. There is no need to use your remote when exiting the community. If you do, the entrance gate will also open and may swing into another vehicle.
  • If you are expecting guests, please let them know how to contact you through the call box. Pressing the arrows on the call box will scroll through residents’ names. When they find your name, they can use the 3 digit number listed to call your designated phone. You may also give them the 3 digit number if you have already obtained it from the call box.
  • When you receive a call from a guest at the gate, press 9 on your phone keypad to open the gate.  If you have a cell phone, you may need to press 9 multiple times for the gate to open.
  • Following these tips should keep you from having any run-ins with the gates. Gate repair is expensive and will be charged to the owner of the vehicle causing the damage. In the last 6 months, Townhomes of Westlake has collected over $6,000 in gate damage expenses from two incidents.
  • If you witness an incident at the gate, please record the time and forward the information to gates@greenacre.com. They will make sure the video is checked and that the driver and/or Sheriff’s office get contacted for appropriate action.
  • If for any reason one of the gates becomes non-operational, both gates will be opened until repairs can be completed. This is done for safety reasons.
