When the Townhomes of Westlake was being constructed, the building closest to the Cabana served as the sales office. Since the office was open to the public, it was required to designate disabled parking spaces to accommodate all visitors.
Now that the sales office has been converted to private residences, our community is gated and we do not rent out facilities, the Townhomes of Westlake is no longer consider a Public Accommodation and disabled parking is not required.
The Association attorney was consulted for an opinion and additional clarification to make sure we stay within the laws governing disabled parking. Her opinion is that the spaces are no longer required.
The Phase II area will have a paving project this fall and at that time — or possibly before, those spaces at the pool cabana will be re-striped.
Preliminary measurements lead us to believe that we can create 3 parking spaces plus one space for mail delivery and pickup. This will allow the mail carrier a place to park when delivering and allow residents a spot to pick up their mail.
